I’m Shrinking….

I feel like the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz…..

Wicked Witch_Oz

Last week I went for my annual checkup…you know, that place you go once a year to be told to lose weight, eat more veggies, exercise more and stop drinking so much.  After sitting in the waiting room for 26 hours (I know why they call it a waiting room, I take my knitting with me to pass the time), the nurse takes me into teeny cube room #1 for weighing and measuring…like your a trophy Bass or Muskie.

Weight was ok, exact same as a year ago – … Read more...

Puzzled?

I admit it…. I am a Crossword Puzzle-A-Holic.  I love the puzzles in the USA Today  paper (when hubby heads stateside occasionally, he brings them back for me  – Woot!), and when we are at the Homestead, we grab a copy of the local newspaper as they have 2 puzzles in every issue.   One is fairly easy, but the other is pull your hair out difficult, and when conquered, I feel like a World Champion…able to leap tall puzzles in a single bound.

Sunday mornings I can be found with at least 3 cups of tea and several Crosswords to … Read more...

Caption This….

Back in 2005, hubby and I took our very first (and so far last) cruise.  We sailed on Holland America out of Fort Lauderdale with destinations of St. Maarten, Tortola (BVI) and Nassau.

We chose Holland America mainly because it is known for catering to an *older* population and the ships are smaller (i.e. we hate crowds and kids).  If you are the type wanting to stay up late and party with the 30 set or have a yen for being around 5000 screaming children on a Disney cruise, then Holland America isn’t for you.

Sleepy Monday

Today is one of those days where I just can’t get rolling…probably has something to do with getting up at the crack of stupid to come back to the City (btw – the crack of stupid is typically defined as anytime between 2 and 3 am).

Sooooo…this is the extent of today’s post, along with the photo below which depicts exactly how I feel.

Hopefully I will be a wee bit more energetic tomorrow…

Good Night!

The Best of April

ZOOOM…… Another month whizzes by like a kid on a skateboard.  Where the heck does the time go?  Although I am pretty darn happy, no wait, I am ecstatic even… to be rid of April.  April Showers, April Snows, April Hails, April High Winds, Mother Nature threw the book at us in April.  She apparently is getting back at us from…what??? What’d we do to her??!! Don’t answer that…..

angry cloudInstead, concentrate on being here in the infant stages of May wondering, praying, and hoping that Mother Nature will finally deliver the nice, warm, Spring weather and keep it here.  She … Read more...

Next Weeks Menu

For this weekend’s jaunt to the Homestead, I am packing my rubber boots, slicker, rain hat, umbrella, snow shovel, de-icing medium, ice pick and Noah’s Ark that I personally recovered from Mount Ararat…..then it is on to gathering up the critters two by two….

Noah's ArkOk….that may be a stretch on Noah’s Ark, but seriously, the weather has been so dreadful I feel like I have been transplanted to Jolly ‘Ol England this past week.  Here’s to hoping the sun makes an appearance soon, my poor garden seedlings are starving for some sunshine!!

Meanwhile, here is next week’s menu, leaning heavily … Read more...

Anatomy of A Sock

Yup, this is another blog post about toe smotherers….first, let me preface this by saying that I have not, nor will I ever become a lover of socks, more like…I may actually tolerate them from this point forward now that I have completed 2 knitting torture projects.

Torture project # 1 if you recall was for my daughter.  She loves socks, loves them so much she always has to have a gift box full of them under the Christmas tree every year.  So it made sense that my first foray into attempting to knit a pair would go to her.  … Read more...

The Best of March

The weather in Southern Ontario was anything but stellar for March.  I even heard rumours of lynch mobs ready to string up Wiarton Willie for lying about the early arrival of Spring.  The weather was for the most part cold, windy and wet, with the sun making rare appearances now and then, teasing us with it yellow glow of tepid warmth.

Here is hoping that April finally sees us getting into the traditional, warm, sunny Spring weather we deserve…. although it seems to be taking a page from the book of March for the first few days so far.
