A Happy 200th!

200th BlogPost copyCan you believe it?  My 200th blog post in almost a year…. Even more amazing is that I have that much stuff rambling around in my noggin to write about, with lots more to come too….

I do have to thank the people who follow me around and read my blog though, because if it wasn’t for my faithful readers, I probably would be selling fake Persian rugs in a market stall somewhere in Bursa, Turkey…and even though many of you don’t comment all the time, I do peek at the stats counter and I can tell who is watching … Read more...

Tigger By The Tail

Ta-Dah! It’s Tigger!!

Tigger

Here is a project near and dear to me as it is for an old friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer.  I mentioned it in a post a couple weeks ago, and I finally finished it…

Here it is…all done up ~ Tigger style.

As she has just started chemotherapy, it is only a matter of time before one of the many side effects of chemo shows up ~ hair loss.  So while she is enduring the rounds and rounds of treatments, she can wear this chic chapeau with pride and be the envy of … Read more...

Sock Hop

Knitted Socks Update

After almost 3 weeks, I finished knitting my first pair of socks EVER…..and I am for the most part, pleased with how they turned out.  Being new to the knitting construction of toe smotherers, I definitely went a lot quicker on the 2nd sock than the first one.

Overall, I am happy with the result….and I didn’t once poke myself in the eye with a knitting needle in frustration.

This first pair however, will grace my daughter’s tootsies.

I will attempt another pair for myself, but will try a different pattern as the zigzag pattern of the

Inspiration

Comes in many forms…

I heard from an old friend yesterday.  We had not spoken in over a year (life gets busy apparently) and she dropped a bombshell via email.

She has just been diagnosed with breast cancer after a lump was found during a routine mammogram.  To say her family is devastated is an understatement.  She is set to begin immediate chemo before any surgery can even be contemplated.

Right off the bat she was worried about losing her hair, more so than any other side effects of chemo.  I told her that losing her hair temporarily is a … Read more...

Sock It To Me!

I hate socks.  I really do.  So why am I contemplating knitting some?

A challenge I guess….. or I am nuts…

I have been knitting for years.  I have made adult sweaters, baby sweaters, bonnets and booties, scarves, hats and afghans by the yard.  Actually, the year I gave up the horrible tobacco stuff, I made 6 afghans – a world record I think.  I should have called Guiness…wonder if there is a world record category for that?

But back to socks….Since re-igniting my knitting fetish this past summer,  I have been talking to a neighbour who makes socks by … Read more...

Things you do for your Pet

This post is an inspiration from Anne (yes, YOU missy), she has the most adorable pet kitties.  I have never met them in person, but have seen gorgeous, funny pictures of them that she posts once in a while on FB.   Like this one…

Anne_kitties

Adorable aren’t they?  I love Sir Charles, he is the Black and White one with the Hitler ‘stache’….

Anyway, her inspiration for this post came from the lovely, knitted collars she made them.  Cute eh?

This brings me to the following question…..What odd, crazy, weird and/or wonderful thing have you made for your pet?

Made a … Read more...

Blue Suede……Jacket

No, not the shoes of Elvis fame….but a jacket.  A bright, blue, fringed, suede jacket that has been tucked away in my closet for about as long as I have been married.  This was a present given to me by my husband, many, many moons ago when I was into my horse-fetish/riding days.

I haven’t worn it in years though…it seems to have shrunk actually…did you know that suede is prone to shrinking?  They need to print warning labels….or perhaps it is the phenomena that is affecting hundreds of people over the age of 40….the realization that they have clothing … Read more...

Need A Quick Christmas Gift?

I love Chunky yarn.  Chunky yarn makes for fast knitting for those instant gratification type folks (like me).  The pattern is so easy, even the most timid knitter can make this in no time.

If you can spare one day, then you can knit this cowl that will be sure to delight that special friend or neighbour that is on your Christmas List.  Giving a handmade gift truly is a delight…both for the Gift-ee and the Gift-or!

The yarn is available in a multitude of striped or solid patterns and is sold at Michael’s Stores everywhere.

To access the pattern, … Read more...
