When life hands you Tomatoes…and more…and more….

You can do one of two things.  Either grab your hundreds of bushels of tomatoes and head over to Bunol, Spain for the La Tomatina Festival (the world’s biggest Food Fight)  OR…scour the internet, your cookbooks, and while your at it, even your neighbours cookbooks, for as many recipes using tomatoes as you can find.  Then get set to cook, can or eat your way through your bounty of tomatoes until you are so sick of them, you never want to see another tomato for as long as you live.

A Weekend of Firsts….

What are your momentous Firsts?  I am not talking about the usual First Kiss, First Beer (and corresponding First Hangover), First Child or First Divorce…. Rather, what are the things you have never done or thought you would have never done in your life?  But somehow ended up doing anyway, much to your own surprise.

Going Quackers…

Saturday afternoon at the cottage was, for the most part, uneventful.  I raked up some 6 wheel-barrows full of leaves from the underbrush and painstakingly picked 2 large buckets of white, decorative garden stone out of a patch of dirt I wanted to plant some flowers in while hubs tackled one of the biggest tree stumps on the lot.  This took him the better part of 4 hours of hacking, sawing, leveraging, sweating and swearing….but he finally won and the offending stump was removed and banished to the empty lot across the end of the driveway.
