Sock It To Me!

I hate socks.  I really do.  So why am I contemplating knitting some?

A challenge I guess….. or I am nuts…

I have been knitting for years.  I have made adult sweaters, baby sweaters, bonnets and booties, scarves, hats and afghans by the yard.  Actually, the year I gave up the horrible tobacco stuff, I made 6 afghans – a world record I think.  I should have called Guiness…wonder if there is a world record category for that?

But back to socks….Since re-igniting my knitting fetish this past summer,  I have been talking to a neighbour who makes socks by the thousands.  She says they are easy. Pfft…maybe for her, but seeing as I have been recently exposed to DPN’s (Double Pointed Needles) to tackle mittens, I figured the next logical step was socks.

But I HATE socks!!!!

Did I mention I hate socks?

So my first attempt at making them will be for my daughter, as she LOVES socks (weirdo, have no idea where she gets it from) and even though she is a full-fledged adult, she still happily loves to get socks for Christmas (I know…crazy eh?).

So I bought some sock yarn, which is pretty thin stuff….like baby yarn, and it is sitting on the back of the ‘run-neth over desk’ (the catch all zone for miscellaneous stuff in my office/sewing room) staring at me….challenging me….and I swear – mocking me with its cyclops eye (can you tell I am terrified?)

I have never shied from a challenge…yet…so stay tuned!

  1. some of the knitting stuff I got out of her treasure box was double pointed needles too. This is the kind of thing that makes my blood pressure sky rocket too because I don’t have the faintest idea what to do with them. Well I do, but I can find garden stakes that are specifically for the garden 🙂 Anyway, since you got me over my fear of circular needles, this will be the next challenge.

    • Fabulous! I am now not alone in my challenge 😀 Good luck! visit the Ravelry site for tons of sock patterns, from basic to pull your hair out 🙂
